Mission Statement

The mission of Precision Manufacturing Institute is to support manufacturers and our communities through value added training, education and technical assistance in a wide-array of manufacturing skills, knowledge and industry-based technologies.

We support our manufacturers and our communities by:

  • Developing the manufacturing skill sets of new job seekers and unemployed or under-employed individuals, who are desiring careers in manufacturing
  • Advancing the skills and knowledge of incumbent workers, who desire or need to enhance their existing manufacturing skill sets
  • Partnering with machine, tooling and software providers to make available the latest “state-of-the-industry” technology for the benefit of our manufacturers and students
  • Cooperate and collaborate with community agencies and leaders, manufacturing support organizations, education and training providers, and other entities and individuals whose efforts strengthen the manufacturing industry and foster its growth

Through our relentless effort to support the precision manufacturing industry of the United States, we strive to be the hallmark of technical training, education, and manufacturing assistance.

Organizational Information

  • PMI is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization which has been offering industrial training since 1987.
  • PMI operates two training centers:
    • Meadville, Pennsylvania (headquarters) primarily serving Crawford, Erie, Warren, and Venango counties since 1987
    • Sharon, Pennsylvania primarily serving Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania and Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio since 2008
  • PMI is governed by a Board of Directors. As required by the organization’s by-laws, two-thirds of the Directors represent industry.
  • Each PMI training site maintains an Advisory Board to represent the interests of the local manufacturing companies and community organizations. Two members from each Advisory Board also have representation on the Board of Directors.

Precision Manufacturing Institute is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools.

Precision Manufacturing Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. ACCSC is a recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education.
