Careerlink / On-The-Job Training
Through federal and state Workforce Investment Act funding (WIA Title I), Team PA CareerLinks may be able to assist employers who wish to provide on-the-job training programs. The program creates a practical, hands-on learning environment that assures that a worker will be trained in a manner suitable to the company's needs. This program is available to employed, underemployed and dislocated adult workers. On-The-Job Training Grants will provide up to 50% of a trainee's wages during the training period, up to a maximum of six months. The trainee must be a new hire working with CareerLink staff and must follow specific program guidelines. Contact your local PA CareerLink for more information.
Critical Job Training Grants
There are communities throughout Pennsylvania experiencing significant job losses and businesses that are unable to continue to expand or remain competitive because of a lack of skilled labor. Critical Job Training Grants will assist Pennsylvania businesses in training and retraining workers, customizing programs to meet the employer’s needs. Grants are awarded for dislocated workers, for occupations with immediate skill needs, for high-demand jobs or jobs with a shortage of skilled workers as identified by the Department of Labor. Local funding is determined at the state level on a case-by-case basis within a 30-day time period. Eligible applicants may include a corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership or limited liability company. For more information on CJT grants, contact Paul Newlin, Director of Training & Employer Services, Workforce Investment Board, 764 Bessemer St. Suite 102, Meadville, PA 16335, Phone: (814) 333-1286.
